Principals Message

My name is Erika Tumminelli and I am proud to be the principal of dynamic educational opportunity in Salinas.

I’ve spent my entire educational career in the Salinas City Elementary School District. I taught at Natividad Elementary School starting in 2009. In 2014, I became the New Teacher and Language Arts Support Coach for the district. For the past 3 years, I’ve been Vice Principal at Sherwood Elementary School. I am thrilled to take the next step of my educational journey with the Salinas City Virtual Academy.

This Academy desires to build life-long learners, and provide countless opportunities for our students to be successful, confident, and prepared and ready to enter the real world. I believe every child deserves a quality education, no matter what format their family chooses to have them learn in. Students at Salinas City Virtual Academy will always feel safe, welcomed, nurtured, and challenged.

The goals of this academy include

• Creating global citizens

• Fostering human connectedness in an online environment

• Supporting and enriching all aspects of a child’s development

• Developing learners who are compassionate, critical thinkers, communicators, collaborators, and citizens that are creative.
